Proposal for a new Overseas Association Decision

On June 14, the European Commission has published its proposal for the future “Overseas Association Decision” (annexes) which would enter into force in 2021.

The full name is "Proposal for a Council Decision on the Association of the Overseas Countries and Territories with the European Union including relations between the European Union on the one hand, and Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark on the other"

This proposal comes in the context of the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework and the EC’s Communication which set the main priorities and overall budgetary framework for EU external action programmes under the heading ‘Neighbourhood and the World’.

In August 2018, OCTA submitted a position paper in the context of the public consultation organised by the European Commission.

OCTA has also been invited to speak on 24 September at the meeting of the Committee on Development of the European Parliament for the first exchange of views on the proposal for a new OAD:
